A book of folk songs of North Gujarat, edited by Pannalal Patel. I wish I could have found more information about this book. Instead, I’ll speculate a bit about the imagery on the cover. Is there any significance to the peacock feather, or is it just pretty? I’m going to guess that it’s being used as a musical symbol, in reference to Krishna, who played the flute so beautifully that the forest peacocks gave him their feathers. Perhaps? This cover also made me think about how few female drummers there have been in western music. But anyway!

What a great cover, right? Hypnotic lines in the background, bright primary colors, fabulous curly, bubbly Gujarati title on a wavy baseline! Doesn’t get much better than that.
