One of my favorite sign spottings to date, this beautiful Devanagari example is very wide and heavy, with strange and unexpected contrast – but somehow I find it really lovely. Beautiful tails, diagonal counters, and angularity. I also enjoy the reverse-stressed Latin text beneath it, with long thin legs on the ‘R’ and flat tops similar to the head line of Devanagari. This sort of character style was fairly common on the backs of vehicles and on shop signs.

  1. Beautiful example indeed. I particularly liked the letter ‘Sa’, and also the closed counter in it is quite unusual.
