২৫ দিন , জিও কাকা !!  Something is happening for 25 days? Who can translate?

A fun lithographed poster found in Kolkata – I’m totally into the jagged letters and offset printing style. The angles certainly got my attention! Kudos to the artist also for hand-drawing all of that white writing – that must have been tricky!

  1. Its not জিও কা কা (Jatti Ka Ka), its জিতু কাকা. (Jeetu Kaka) meaning, Jeetu Uncle. Its a name of a drama. 🙂

  2. Hello again, um, Mr. Chandhran misinformed you. To transliterate, it is ‘Jiyo Kaka’. It’s the title of the film in you poster.

‘Kaka’ does mean uncle (or more precisely, the younger brother of the father — paternal uncle). However, ‘Jiyo’ could be a ditransitive verb here, meaning something like ‘may (one) live long’ (it’s difficult for me to translate the word as I dunno the context). The title could be roughly translated to ‘Long Live Uncle’.

You can find more about the film here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5257288/
